wvFLOODshowWest Virginia Flood Relief 2016 Morgantown, WV

In the early morning hours of June 24th 2016, 10 inches of rain fell on southern West Virginia in 2 hours leading to widespread flash flooding. 23 people lost their lives and thousands of others were left homeless. 44 of the 55 counties in West Virginia were effected and under a state of emergency. It quickly became clear the recovery was going be a long process that would require an enormous amount of funding and cooperation.

Quickly across the state relief efforts have been mobilized to reduce the impact and suffering of our fellow West Virginians. Morgantown being the home of the flag ship institution West Virgnia University was a natural vantage point for which gather resources and organize relief. With the help of many sponsors, Morgantown’s artistic community has organized a night of music and art at the 123 Pleasant Street to raise funds for the relief and restoration of flood victims lives. All proceeds raised will be donated to the Greenbriar county United Way where 100% is distributed locally.
