Advocates announce public forum in Charleston Tuesday, December 11
Dear Supporter:
We know you are ready for a serious conversation about marijuana policy reform in West Virginia, and with the help of a few key advocates in West Virginia, we are planning to launch that conversation in a big way next Tuesday, December 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Charleston. Reform advocates have reserved the House chamber (1900 Kanawha Boulevard East) for an hour-long public forum entitled “Should West Virginia reform its marijuana laws?”
We intend to change the course of this debate and show legislators we are serious about taking a hard look at West Virginia’s marijuana policies. Patients, advocates, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend this public forum. The following speakers have been confirmed:
* James Nolan, a former police lieutenant and FBI unit chief, currently Associate Professor of Sociology at West Virginia University and a speaker for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.
* Dr. Paul Clancy, an ER physician and advocate for allowing marijuana to be used as medicine.
* Matt Simon, a West Virginia native and WVU graduate currently working as a legislative analyst for the Marijuana Policy Project.
Thanks to Delegate Mike Manypenny and our allies at WVNORML for helping to make this event a reality!
Sincerely,
Matt Simon
Legislative Analyst
