Ryan Diviney, a 22 year old from Ashburn, VA, was brutally beaten outside the Willey Street Dairy Mart on November 7, 2009. Ryan’s attackers were a group of individuals returning from a night out. Ryan has remained in a coma-like state since the attack and is unable to function on his own.
Since the attack, Ryan’s father, Ken, has quit his job to take care of his son. Ken and Ryan’s mother, Sue, are devoted to giving their son the best care possible in hopes that he will awake from his coma-like state. This has become a hardship on the family since they solely rely on Sue’s income and donations. The mission of the 5K Race & Dragonfly Benefit is to help alleviate some of the financial restrictions placed on the family.
