I went to Wings Ole to try something different a while back… I wish that I didn’t have the desire to try new things, because occasionally, new things suck. This was one of those times.

I ordered a dozen wings, standard hot, and a side of rice. The wings must have been cooked from frozen, because when I got them, they were still raw on the inside. I informed the person at the counter that they needed to be cooked further, and I was asked to bring them back. They must have thrown them back into the fryer, pulled them out, and thrown them back in the basket without adding more wing sauce to coat them. Needless to say, they weren’t very good without sauce.

I opened the lid on my styrofoam container of rice, stuck my fork in, and pulled out a hockey puck of dried out, congealed rice that a goat might have been able to eat, but not a person. I went back to the counter and showed the employee my inedible hockey puck, and was told “That’s the way it’s supposed to be.” I politely informed the gentleman that no, I’m fairly certain that is *not* the way it is supposed to be, and could you please get the manager so we could talk this over… the “manager” came over to our table and said that if I didn’t like my food, that was too bad, and that I could leave, right now. As my companions were still eating (I don’t know how, but still…) I declined his offer and asked for a refund. He responded by threatening to call the police!

I have had bad service before, and I have had bad food before, but that was the first (and thus far only) time that I have been threatened by a restaurant employee for pointing out that their food was not edible. I don’t know how this place stays in business, given the horrible quality of their food and the utter absence of customer service.
