Here is a list of reasons I cannot stand Pitt.\u00a0 Why do you hate them?<\/h3>\n

1) Their fan-base is terrible.\u00a0 They have a bad showing at home games, they don’t travel well to bowl games and away games.\u00a0 Most of the time, they act like they don’t even care how the football team does because most of the students are Steelers and Eagles fans, first and foremost.\u00a0 I’ll give their basketball crowd credit, though.<\/h3>\n

2) Gameday Atmosphere.\u00a0 When you go to a game at Heinz Field, it doesn’t have that college feel that other universities have.\u00a0 They have people tailgating, cooking out and having a good time, but it definitely feels like a professional football game atmosphere.\u00a0 A weak one at best.\u00a0 No question it’s difficult because they play in a NFL stadium, but it should be overall a little better.\u00a0 Stadiums on college campuses are always more fun and exciting.<\/h3>\n

3) Their university claims 9 football championships.\u00a0 8 of those national championships came between the years of 1915-1937.\u00a0 Back in those years, usually all you needed was 1 AP voter to determine you as the national champion and you could claim a title.\u00a0 In the “Modern era” Pitt has only one 1 national championship, back in 1976.\u00a0 Usually when a WVU fan speaks of the success we’ve had a against the Panthers, this is a common argument that they bring up.\u00a0 Next time they do, just bring up the fact that 8 out of 9 of those shouldn’t really count.<\/h3>\n

4) Education.\u00a0 No question Pitt is a very credible University.\u00a0 The problem is that you do not hear the end of it, when they compare themselves to WVU.\u00a0 Pitt fans\/students often try to claim that many of the students at WVU could not get into Pitt and we are all just a bunch of\u00a0 idiots that eventually flunk out.\u00a0 They use our universities low admission standards to try and prove their point, while totally dismissing the fact that many of our programs are highly regarded throughout the country.\u00a0 Bring up a win against them in football or basketball, this argument is sure to pop up within two minutes.<\/h3>\n

5) Trash talking.\u00a0 Often times if you encounter a Pitt fan, they use the same old shtick when making fun of WVU and West Virginia in general.\u00a0 The typical inbred, dumb hicks, hoopie comments never fail from them.\u00a0 Just for once I would like to hear some original jokes and trash talking coming from their fan base.<\/h3>\n

6) Yinzers. I know at WVU we have our fair share of fans from Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, but I’ll let them slide because they are WVU fans.\u00a0 Does anybody else think they talk kind of funny with that Western PA accent? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I can’t stand it.<\/h3>\n

7) They’re leaving for the ACC.\u00a0 I know we are set to join the Big XII, but the fact that they received an invite from ACC and we didn’t still pisses me off a little bit.\u00a0 I think most people would agree that the ACC is a natural fit for us geographically and contains many of our rivals.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 Still very happy with the Big XII invite.<\/h3>\n
